David Moyes Bio
David Moyes has managed West Ham United on two separate occasions.
His first stint as Hammers boss came at a time of huge turmoil for the club with protests against board members, dissatisfaction with the London Stadium and general unrest. Moyes was in charge for the infamous Premier League game against Burnley which saw mass demonstrations under the directors box and pitch invasions by unhappy fans.
West Ham Defender’s Future In Doubt As Everton Continue To Hesitate
According to a number of news outlets, and to add fuel to my previous article about David Moyes being known as “Dithering Dave”, the ex-West Ham manager is doing exactly that, with suggestions that the Congo international was actually offered to the Toffees by his agents, and Moyes is “unsure” about signing the 28-year-old. Everton […]
Everton Eye Cut-Price Move For Disinterested West Ham Defender
Everton are interested in signing West Ham full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, a source close to the club has revealed to Claret & Hugh this morning. The defender’s form has dropped off almost alarmingly during the second half of the Hammers’ campaign, which has been in stark contrast to his excellent first season at the London Stadium. […]
Tottenham Warning Issued By Former West Ham Boss Moyes
Former West Ham manager David Moyes will apparently be doing everything possible to help keep the Hammers in the Premier League and send Tottenham Hotspur down this weekend. There had been plenty of speculation over whether Moyes would fully commit to Everton’s trip to North London given the Toffees realistically have very little left to […]
“No Huge Profit” David Moyes Everton Eyeing West Ham Left-Back in Summer Raid
West Ham left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf is reportedly on the wish list of David Moyes. The 21-year-old Senegal international has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United should West Ham suffer relegation. But if we’re being honest, there has been very little in Diouf’s recent form to suggest he is currently ready […]
West Ham Set For Second Shot At Midfield Target Moyes Rejected
West Ham United could finally be about to land a player at the second time of asking if reports in Italy are to be believed. Youssouf Fofana was close to joining West Ham in 2023 after then Hammers director of football Tim Steidten recommended him as first choice to replace Declan Rice. Moyes Decision Changed […]
David Moyes was employed by West Ham owners David Sullivan and David Gold to help rescue the club from Premier League relegation following the departure of Slaven Bilic. He signed a short term contract until the end of that current season with a reported £2m bonus in the event of retaining the clubs Premier League status.
Moyes managed to steer the club to safety at the first attempt but was released at the end of his contract as the club sought more attractive football in the form of Manuel Pellegrini.
Pellegrini was not as successful as the club hoped despite being allowed to break West Ham’s transfer record twice and eventually replaced with Moyes. The returning manager was once again charged with saving the club from relegation, which he did.
At the time of writing Moyes has taken West Ham to consecutive European football campaigns following 6th & 7th place finishes in the Premier League. West Ham reached the semi finals of the UEFA Europa League losing to the eventual winners Frankfurt.
Despite exceeding expectations Moyes has continued to have a fractious relationship with the fanbase, who have found it difficult to warm to his defensive style of play.
At the beginning of the 2022/23 Premier League season Moyes was given £180m transfer budget to spend on players.
