Moyes’ in critical striker countdown

David Moyes seems unlikely to sign a striker to a permanent deal this winter after missing out on a couple of priority targets.

And a report tonight in The Sun that Josh King is still of interest at £16m and £120,000 per week in wages is well wide of the mark.

Moyes has openly admitted three bids for his quality targets have been made and failed. He is now likely to wait until summer for the player he really wants and look for a back-up loan signing over what remains of the window.

He is looking to get a foreign loan striker as he bids to take pressure of Michail Antonio unless he gets lucky in the last days by getting the front man he REALLY  wants.

If he doesn’t land a loan deal he will fall back on the squad with players like Yarmolenko and Lanzini playing a more forward role or youngsters like Mipo Odubeko being given more minutes on the pitch.

The manager refuses to panic buy and has suggested this is the way he will go if he finds signing impossible.
