“We’re all doomed” talk is such nonsense

There’s an air of panic and doom mongering around West Ham at the moment.

The honeymoon days of a new manager and supposed new era under Slaven Bilic in our last season at the Boleyn Ground seem long behind us and a familiar mood of negativity has descended once again on our great club.

It seems to be the West Ham ‘fans’ way. Mark Lawrenson and Harry Redknapp have added fuel to the fire to express concern for West Ham this season.

Maybe I am alone in this view, but I believe we can survive the first half of the season without any further additions before the transfer deadline closes at 6pm on Tuesday.

Sure I would like new additions but they need to quality additions not ageing ‘has beens’, mercenaries or sub standard loan deals in my view. Maybe, I am deluded but we have seen it all before so I don’t why we are surprised.

I think Tony Cottee is correct on Emmanuel Adebayor, at best we will get good six months from him and I am not at all convinced he is worth the reported £100,000 per week we would need to pay Spurs for his services.

Although Alex Song is  clearly quality and showed it in the first half of last season, is it worth paying him  a reported£85,000 per week  when he is unlikely to play until November and may take longer to get back to his best form?

It won’t be the end of the world if we stick with our current squad until January. As David Gold highlighted yesterday,  Carroll and Zarate are due to return soon. Valencia should return early next year and we hope Sakho will stay fit and out  of other trouble.

We can always spend big in January if things are going pear shaped but I think last minute desperate buying of strikers and wingers is misguided and a waste of of limited resources.

Do I think we will relegated this season? NO I do NOT!   Come on you Irons!  Don’t Panic! Keep the faith!
