Rice leaps to defence of Man United star

|

Fine performance from Declan

Declan Rice has joined the row between Paul Pogba and veteran Sky pundit Graeme Souness after the former Liverpool player took a pop at the Manchester United star.

And the Hammers defensive midfielder has made it clear that his sympathies are with the Old Trafford star after sour Souey took a swing at the fella.

Pogba himself probably doesn’t need any help to be honest, given his very straightforward response to the Scot declaring: ‘I didn’t even know who he [Souness] was.’ after the pundit said:  ‘The oldest thing in football comes to mind – put your medals on the table.’

‘Why do people hate on Pogba? Don’t make any sense.

‘The guy is ridiculous, one of the best in the world. You think he wants to be injured?

‘Some things in football you can’t prevent.’

ClaretandHugh says: This will no doubt spark some into thinking that Declan is making an unobtrusive point about a possible move to Old Trafford but we really don’t think that’s the case here. Maybe, like many others, he has some problems listening to the regular knocking comments from a guy who, after all, stopped playing the game 29 years ago. Pundits are actually the most pointless people in the game – all adopting sometimes cantankerous comments to court controversy which keeps themselves in the public eye. The prime example of course is Roy Keane but such as Souness are on a level with him and G Neville isn’t that far behind
