The game against Manchester City was notable for the return to some real form of Michail Antonio and it didn’t go unnoticed by Ian Wright.
Michail has been out of sorts for a while and has regularly been linked with a move to Crystal Palace this winter but was launched into action against Man City alongside (or off) Mark Arnautovic.
Afterwards manager Manuel Pellegrini made it clear that he knew that pair’s pace and power could cause issues to the defence.
And hidden in that statement is the message that the former Hammer of the Year is unlikely to be going anywhere in a hurry and that should be a very welcome moment.
Yes, he’s not been himself this season but yesterday there’s was more of the old Antonio than we’ve seen for some time and that could be because he is now genuinely recovering from a bad hamstring and with more minutes is looking a real player again.
Wright obviously things so too saying: “The games West Ham have coming up, you have to say with Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio they will create chances and they will, I believe, get some points out of the games coming.”
