There are very few transfer rumours that, when you read them, actually create an instant uptick of optimism amongst fans – especially when the rumour involves a possible departure from West Ham this summer.
But this one, I guarantee, will see a huge majority of West Ham fans cheering on the ‘enquiring’ club who are apparently seeking to take a player from the club – whom most West Ham fans would gladly give away for free, gratis, for nothing.

Maximilian Kilman: In need of a fresh start
It might only be an initial loan but the prospect of removing the player from West Ham’s team sheets will put a spring in the step of fans who have seen nothing but toil and woe from him for two seasons as a Hammer. You’d hope West Ham might stick a cheeky £15m option in any loan deal, hoping they might just get shot of the flop once and for all.
The report comes from footballinsider247.com and if this one comes off – on a permanent basis – there’ll likely be a street party somewhere in east London to celebrate another of the clubs ‘worst ever’ signings being brought to a end:
“Sources: Ipswich Town explore deal for West Ham’s Max Kilman”..
Do not adjust your reading glasses. You read that right. “
The newly-promoted Tractor Boys are in the market for a Premier League proven centre-back, and have earmarked the former Wolves captain as a potential signing…
Sources understand that an approach for the player’s signature would be for a loan at Portman Road, potentially joining Jacob Greaves and Dara O’Shea in the centre of defence.
Kilman has fallen significantly down the pecking order at the London Stadium, being stuck on the bench for each of the Hammers’ final 10 games of the Premier League season.”
Quite what they see in the former Nubbin favourite isn’t clear: The £40 million Lopetegui signing still goes down as one of the worst of that awful summer 2024 and, going aside, would probably offer Kilman the chance of a fresh start which he desperately needs, after two awful years as a Hammer. Fingers crossed…Trouble is he has five years remaining on his original seven year deal.. who signed off on that?
