West Ham Boss Moyes Fumes at Leverkusen Conduct

Tensions were high following the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final clash between Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham United. West Ham fell short 2-0, and manager David Moyes is not happy with what transpired on the Leverkusen side of the pitch.

The German side secured a crucial win with two late goals from Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface. However, the result seems overshadowed by controversy surrounding Leverkusen’s conduct on the touchline.

West Ham will be without Lucas Paqueta for the return leg due to a yellow card, a decision that enraged Moyes. He specifically targeted the behavior of the Leverkusen bench, accusing them of influencing the referee’s decision and acting “disgracefully” by surrounding Paqueta after the foul.

Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso strongly refuted Moyes’ accusations. He believes the yellow card was justified for Paqueta’s tackle and sees nothing wrong with his team’s actions. Alonso highlighted that managers often communicate with the fourth official, and Leverkusen was simply exercising their right.

While Alonso expressed respect for Moyes, he firmly believes the referee made the right call and that Leverkusen acted appropriately. Both managers will now shift their focus to preparing their teams for the crucial second leg in London.
