West Ham defender of the season revealed

Issa Diop has been crowned the best West Ham defender of the season by Claret and Hugh readers. With 1,716 readers voting in the West Ham defender of the season poll, Diop polled an impressive 983 votes (57.28%) making him easily the outright winner.

The 22-year-old French defender joined from Toulouse last summer costing the Hammers £22.5m and has proved his value again and again for the Hammers.

The young defender has made 36 appearances this season, 31 of those in the Premier League, scoring two goals and totalling 3,240 minutes on the pitch to quickly become a West Ham favourite with the manager and the supporters.
