West Ham fixtures – Preliminary dates aired as Championship schedule unfolds

Image for West Ham fixtures – Preliminary dates aired as Championship schedule unfolds

With West Ham’s relegation to the Championship, the fixtures for the season ahead will show new, unfamiliar venues and the return of both Boxing Day and New Year’s Day football.

The ‘old era’ traditional 26th December fixture had disappeared from the calendar in recent years as the Premier League moved to 27th December fixtures – but now there is a home tie to look forward to  for those seeking to ‘escape the house again’ on Boxing Day.

However with no mainline train services running on 26th December these days, it might prove more challenging for fans to get to the game.

From what we have been told – subject to confirmation from the club website shortly once the ‘official’ release comes at 12 noon…

We believe – but await full publication – that the highlights of West Ham’s season to come will be as follows:

First game 16th August away v Burnley

First Home game 22nd August v Charlton Athletic

29th August Away  v Watford

1st September Home v Wolves

5th September Home v Derby

19th September Home v Millwall

Boxing Day Home v Norwich City

New Years Day Away v Bristol City

20th February Away v Millwall

24 April last Away v Middlesboro

1st May last Home v Portsmouth

A lot of new journeys and grounds there – and one or two only too familiar ones!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
