Hammers and Forest credited with interest in Italy international as Juventus consider defensive reshuffle.
West Ham United have been named alongside Nottingham Forest as Premier League clubs tracking Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, with Italian daily sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming a move to England is viewed as a realistic option this summer.
West Ham and Nottingham Forest are both reportedly monitoring the situation, with Gatti valued at around €20m — although that figure could shift depending on which sides retain their Premier League status.
The 25-year-old has been a regular starter for Juventus, but despite his importance in Turin, the Serie A side are understood to be open to offers if the right proposal lands.
Juventus reshuffle could open the door
Much appears to hinge on Juve’s interest in Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth who West Ham play tomorrow. His potential arrival is being viewed in Italy as the trigger that could pave the way for Gatti’s exit, allowing Juventus to refresh their back line while banking a decent profit.
From a West Ham perspective, everything still revolves around survival and it’s hard to take this stuff too seriously.
If the Hammers manage to stay up, many supporters would expect defensive recruitment to be high on the agenda — although there’s also a strong feeling that securing Axel Disasi permanently should come first following his encouraging start on loan from Chelsea.
