Guardian journalist and West Ham supporter Jacob Steinberg has revealed in his latest column that Fulham have joined the race to sign Hammers winger Crysencio Summerville.
The Dutchman has climbed to the very top of the West Ham transfer grapevine following the £85 million sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur, with many of the same clubs now being linked with a move for the former Leeds United winger.
Spurs themselves, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, have all been credited with an interest in Summerville. Now Steinberg has added Fulham to the growing list of admirers.
Summerville’s Price Continues To Rise
Summerville’s valuation has increased significantly following a string of outstanding performances at the World Cup for the Netherlands.
West Ham are now believed to value the winger at around £50 million, a considerable increase on the £30 million figure that looked more realistic immediately after relegation.
Writing in The Guardian, Steinberg said:
“It is hoped that bringing in money for Fernandes and Summerville will mean they are not under financial pressure to sell Jarrod Bowen. However, there is interest from a host of Premier League sides in West Ham’s captain.”
Bowen Hope Growing
It’s now being reported by so many outlets that the club are determined to keep hold of Jarrod Bowen that I do believe there is genuine reason for optimism that he could remain at the London Stadium.
The Hammers captain might not have been at his very best during last season’s campaign, but a good summer break should leave him refreshed and ready for the Championship season.
I’d expect him to be comfortably the division’s standout player.
After all, it’s worth remembering that even in a relegated side, he still finished second in the Premier League assist charts last season.
As for Summerville, it increasingly feels as though it’s only a matter of time before he departs.
