Christian Benteke has again raised the issue of his future with West Ham reportedly a target.
The Belgian is known to have been unhappy with his Liverpool season but has now widened his issue to claim that not only he but others will be on their way to Jurgen Klopp’s office for talks this summer.
He’s reported this morning as saying he wants to see the manager’s plans for next season and that others want to know what’s going to happen too.
He said: “I signed for five years – not one – but now I needs to see the manager and discuss his plan.”
It’s all a bit off putting because the manager’s plan was surely not to see him fail in goal so regularly and finish up with nine from 43 appearances and probably double that missed.
He did cost £32 million after all!
ClaretandHugh can reveal, however, that he has slipped down the Hammers wanted list with one insider declaring: “Slaven half fancies him but there are several other names in the frame.
“Liverpool are a very tough club with which to do business. The players are on a lot of money and that makes things hard when there are equally and perhaps more attractive propositions elsewhere.”
If we had adopted the “play it safe” option, we wouldn’t have Payet or Lanzini or Kayoute
Benteke is too keen to go public with his thoughts and too high maintenance.
Keep looking abroad.
If we can pick him up for the silly money they sold AC then buy him any more look elsewhere,
It’s not hard to see 3 or 4 good forwards fitting in to our system who are better then our 3 front players at the moment and with AC,Sak and Valencia with £45 million between the we could start next season with a whole new unit,
Barahino,Wilson and Bony would give us a great forward line to chose from and after sales would only cost another £15 million leaving enough to bring in another winger ,right back and CH

I wouodnt be so quick to write Benteke off personally.There is a top player in there somewhere & I think he will prove it again at another club.The Bindippers have a certain magical ability to turn good strikers into donkeys temporarily haha
Not sorry to hear this at all. Think Benteke is ok but not sure what he adds to the squad that we don’t already have. Was good at Villa when the team was built around him but we wouldn’t be prepared to do that (like Liverpool) so no guarantee that would get form back.
I like Benteke, at Villa he was outstanding.
Personally I’d rather take the safe option of buying someone we know can hack it in the PL rather than risk a fortune on a player from abroad who may or may not adjust.
For that reason I’d also go in for Townsend.
It’s playing a bit safe I know, but I reckon they are an improvement on Sakho and Moses.
I see your point of playing safe but that is standing still, if the club really do want to push on we have to sign quality players to replace good players. It’s handy that we can say “thanks but shut the door on the way out” to all the loan players who haven’t really given us much this season. Moses doesn’t seem to show or offer much after his first few games, very disappointed with him tbh. Emenike has been a typical West Ham january loan signing, wouldn’t find the back of the net even with a map & compass in PL. Benteke is too expensive for the return his offers & He wouldn’t leave L’pool for less than £15-20m alonģ with sky high wages also too similar to AC. Of course this only imho.

Of course there are no guarantees of success, Benteke could just as easily play even worse than he did for Liverpool.
What do you think of Townsend for around £8m? It’s a no brainer for me.
Townsend I would prob go for, good PL player & on the whole reliable. Liked the way he went to the barcodes even though he knew is wasn’t going to easy & was one of the only few players who can hold his head up.
I’m sure Bilic will be looking for a different types of player’s than we have now, the pitch at the OS is going to be massive compared to the Boleyn. Townsend wouldn’t have a problem with that.
Everyday another player is linked to us & half a dozen other clubs, it’s an agents best time of the year along with the media’s silly season.
i can see that quite alot of players will wait until after the Euro’s, play well & their value goes up along with wage demands.
Benteke is one of those maybe yes maybe no players . Which has Been proven at Liverpool. The maybe no far out weighs the maybe yes ,, so the best decision is a No .
West Ham like to play fast pressing football and Benteke wouldn’t fit in anyway .
The scousers are good at paying way over the top for overrated strikers who they then unload for half that haha.They got proper mugged off paying 35m for AC IMO 😉
