Forgotten Iron set for shock recall

diafra-sakho-west-ham-crystal-palace_3447376Diafra Sakho could be in line for a shock call-up to the starting X1 at Watford tomorrow (Sun).

We understand that Andre Ayew is feeling unwell but  no decisions will be made until the morning when final checks are run over the squad.

However, it seems more than possible that with such a lack of right sided options, Sakho, who has been named in the squad could take his place on the right side should Ayew cry off through illness.

The front man scored in Senegal’s World Cup qualifying victory over South Africa – his second at international level in recent weeks.

Moyes has been unable to escape the injury/illness jinx that tends to hit the Hammers but we understand Sakho has been a different character since returning to find a new manager in place.

He is fit and in form and ready to show the new manager that he retains his enthusiasm to prove himself at the club – his chance may have come.

  1. WTF Sakho is our best striker play him at 9. if he plays Sakho on the wing to accommodate Carroll at 9 (who has not scored all season!!) – I tell you I have no faith in what this management team are thinking even at this early stage. Please play Sakho up top with Lanzini in behind. Here is my team Adrian, Zabo, Reid, Ogbanna, Masuaka, Obiang, Kouyate, Anamoutovic, Ayew, Lanzini and Sakho.

  2. Reid might not play due to travelling across the world to New Zealand and then to Peru back to England.
He might be jet lagged and fatigued.
    I think it will be
    Hart
    Zabaleta
    Rice
    Ogbonna
    Cresswell
    Obiang
    Kouyate
    Noble
    Lanzini
    Carroll
    Sakho

    • Can’t see Obiang, Kouyate, Noble and Lanzini across the middle???
Moyes likes to play a back 4 and may opt for a 4-2-3-1. We’d all like Sakho up top. Probably Obiang and Noble holding. I can only guess at Lanzini, Kouyate & Masuaku as the 3? Agree with your back 4 and keeper.

  3. We need all the players to put in maximum effort. The jury is out on Sakho having been reported he wants away.

  4. He might want away but he won’t get his move if he doesn’t start putting in good performances. Did you see Ozil & Sanchez today who are apparently looking to move on in Jan? Totally different players to how they have been playing of late as they know the window is looming. You never know. If he does well with Moyes and finds a 2nd wind, he may be offered a new contract.

  5. Should be first name on the team sheet.

  6. Sakho must start ! No brainer for me ,
Adrian, zabba, rice, ogbonna, obiang , kouyate , Arnie, masuaku , lanzini , sakho, Carroll!
3-2-3-2 , Arnie and masuaku to supply Carroll and sakho but need to be defensive as wingbacks , chancy but its offence for the best defence and we need to win .😉

    • Hi Laz!
Nice idea about your formation, mate..
      The 3-2-3-2 has some flexibility within-can always convert to a 5-3-2, or a 5-4-1, or a 4-4-2!
Glad to see you giving Adrian the nod as well!
      Good on ya mate!
      M.

  7. F**k knows but let’s hope Moyes does. Agree Sakho should be first name on the sheet but I guess he play second fiddle to the big lemon heading crosses and long balls down to know one in particular as usual and run around like a giraffe for 70 mins 35 of them spent on the floor after falling over at every contact with s Watford defender! As you can guess I ain’t an AC fan he ain’t worth a rub……Billic should never have sidelined Sakho for AC 2 seasons ago around this time after AC came back from injury. Sakho was flying. We’ve hardly seen him play since initially cause if the fall out with Billic as a result. It was an insult and I totally got why Sakai was pi***d. I’m not making him right for how he carried on but I hope he gets s fair crack at the whip and I’d love to see him turn it around and play alongside Hernandez. Reckon they could be pretty formidable together…..

  8. Sakho surely deserves to be in the starting line-up, preferably, with a fit Chicharito (and the occasional inclusion of young Martinez)- for every game IMHO!

    • Don’t know if Sakho deserves to be in starting 11 , Max , but it would be interesting to see Sakho & Carroll up top . Have a feeling Moyes will go for a lone striker , probably Carroll .
Maybe under Moyes Sakho will change his attitude towards the Club , one can only hope .

      • And the ponytailed god does keV ? 😂 lofl !!! Its supposed to be a level field playground
Mate , deserving doesn’t come into it the way you’re thinking ! On blob its sakho all day long , Carroll’s had a run and dished up nothing ! Time for sakho to have a run in the team for me and given the chance !😉

  9. Yes why would he only get in the squad if Ayew is unwell? He played-& scored- for Senegal last week. If he has really fallen out with the club we are in trouble, as we would be left with only Carroll left of the established strikers. And he is one awkward landing away from an injury. I am giving Moyes the benefit of every doubt that I can but – if this story is correct- I would make that his first big mistake. But to be fair we don’t know if it is correct & we don’t know all the inside story on Sakho in terms of mental & physical issues.

  10. Sakho will hopefully be given the opportunity to both prove himself and change his attitude. There is no doubt he is the amongst the best strikers we have but his attitude has stunk the place out. Maybe Slav responsible in part, I don’t know, but we will soon see.
