Hammers facing huge challenge

stadiumWest Ham have allocated 5,200 tickets for their EFL Cup visit to the London Stadium ahead of their biggest security challenge at the London Stadium yet.

They are facing their first serious grudge match this season as they prepare for the fourth round of the EFL Cup a week on Wednesday.

Under competition rules, away teams can claim up to 10 per cent of the stadium’s capacity to sell to their own supporters. Chelsea requested their full allocation — 5,700 tickets of the 57,000-capacity stadium — but West Ham are restricted to hosting 5,200 opposition fans because of infrastructure issues.

Football League approval is expected to be granted for that although Chelsea are frustrated at seeing their fans unable  to buy tickets and make plans for a match which is now less than a fortnight away.

The difficulties at the staidum are exacerbated by Met Police being unable to deploy officers inside the ground with the force saying their position won’t change.

West Ham have taken steps to reassure supporters of their safety and they will try to avoid Chelsea fans buying seats in the home end by only selling to people who have bought tickets from them in the last five years.

  1. Hammers Face Huge Challenge:

Hammers fans are having difficulty reading any articles on C&H without closing 30 adverts.

Many users in disbelief. The close the first advert and BAM second advert opens.

C&H have taken no steps to reassure supporters of their sites safety and they will try to avoid any negative feedback.

  2. Oy Hugh, caught you!

Acknowlegements should go to Adam Crafton of the Daily Mail! – mind you his piece was a rehash of other stuff I’ve seen on here and other places in the last week, I suppose that’ how the media works!

No offence Hugh, only joking I had just read Adam Crafton’s article in the Mail and the opened your site and read this article.

  3. Agree re adverts, appreciate you want some revenue Hugh but it’s getting silly now….and causes the site not to open sometimes…..it’s becoming a bl**dy pain to be honest.

Re the article….I want to know who was at the meeting which must have been months ago. You know the one when they said, ‘considering we have no segregation, no Police in the stadium, inexperienced stewards and the fact that the stadium design allows home fans to wander round and join those nice chaps who support the team you don’t for a pint, what are we going to do when Chelsea come?’……..

    You couldn’t make it up……

  4. Why dont i get adverts? Only down the right side which cause no problems at all.
Is it only on phones i wonder? Pop ups.

  5. Why are the police not at least showing a presence inside. If there was a March of 5200 BNP (of which I don’t belong or condone) going through Lewisham or Brixton they would be their in riot gear and water cannon. This game could be a disaster waiting to happen. Until police show themselves to be doing their job every home game has the potential to become a riot.COYI
