How we rated the Irons v Boro

obiang1Randolph: No chance with the goal – one particularly great save, otherwise safe as houses 6

Byram: Growing up fast – barely a foot wrong – do we need a right back  now? 7

Reid: Usual composed performance when under pressure 7

Ogbonna: Maybe rose to the challenge of Mr Fonte arriving – no complaints 7

league-cup-west-ham-andy-carroll_3354672Cresswell: Could have cost us with an attempted clearance against bar and looking shakier than we are used to 5

Antonio: 100 per cent as ever. Scares defender to death 7

Obiang: Sheer quality again some fine closing down and seriously picks out a pass 8

Noble: Fine corner for AC’s first – worked hard but off again with injury 6

Lanzini: Always at the heart of our attacking efforts but should have scored when put clear 7

Feghouli: Great first half setting up some fine attacking moves and putting in a shift defensively 7

Carroll: Awesome striker display – two goals and always a menace. Off with groin injury.

SUBS:

Fernandes (53) Composed and steady – top player in the making 6

Calleri (67) Worked hard to impress on first appearance since October, will have confidence from goal and showed good movement 6

Collins (83) Brought on as Boro pressed forward and what you would expect – rock solid to all aerial threats 5

  1. Couldn’t agree more we are playing as a team again hope to see calleri get a run there’s something I like about the boy maybe with some confidence he could be a great striker look how of ended up with Antonio OK so maybe not a big name signing by I think he should get a run but playing off of Carroll don’t think his a lone striker tbf hopefully we can turn this season around still a lot of work to do but were getting there

  2. Think Calleri goal will end up be given as an own goal. Either way, hopefully it will give him a confidence boost.

Reid and Carroll were my joint MOTM.

Referee was once again shocking, we could and should have had at least 1 penalty.

28 points and top half. Payet who???

    • I found the ref to be generally bad today as well. Many mistakes for both sides, probably evened out in terms of advantage but vast amount of errors from the whole ref team…

  3. Callieris shot was on target so won’t be an own goal. I also thought Lanzini took the corner? A good performance and another win. We can start looking up the table now. Cresswell needs to sort himself out though. He’s been off his game for a good few matches now.

  4. Blame Iain Dowie! In the commentary he kept saying that the corner was taken by Noble and was never corrected.

  5. Thanks lads. Lanzini did take it – my mistake – corrected.

  6. Great result, can’t wait to watch the highlights later, I am glad for Callieri, although he didn’t score earlier in the season and looked slow to get his shots off I was always impressed with his movement and vision, now we are a team again it will be interesting to see if he is allowed to play with Carroll in the number 10 role, I don’t want to see him loaned out again to a Spanish team as has been reported, like Feghouli he has mostly stated that he wants to prove himself here, he should be adjusting to the frenetic speed of play here now that he has watched enough matches, one of our other great goal threats Antonio scored a very scrappy first goal that was all he needed lets hope its the same for Callieri COYI !!!

  7. Can i just say that it was Lanzini that took the corner for AC’s goal….Coyi
