Nolan: “I’ve made my feelings known”

|
Nolan-West-Ham-535489Kevin Nolan has made it clear he will be off if he doesn’t find himself part of new boss Slaven Bilic’s plans. The 33-year-old is of course in the last year of his contracy and has captained the team in our two Europa League qualifiers.

Now, speaking to the Express, he has made it clear he does not wish to spend any time on the sidelines.

He said: “I have made my feelings known that I don’t want to be sitting on the bench. I want to be playing and give my all in training.

“If that’s good enough, then great. If not, we’ll have to sit down and see where we go from there.“I’m coming to the tail-end of my career and I’ve got to do what’s best for me and my family. To be fair, we haven’t got that far yet but we’ll see.”

You have my blessing to leave asap, thanks for the service to the club but now pls jog on Snail Trail.

  • Bangkokbill says:

    Taxi for Mr Nolan please

  • nobleass says:

You have been told in the spring to look out for a new club (source newsnow.com) …And after this euroleauge performance of disaster from you.Is now time for you to get on the “no legs” train to championship. Not explain you feelings that no one cares about.

  • ExPat_Hammer says:

Happens to all of us. The mind wants to, the body has other ideas. He’s been a very loyal servant and now it’s time to for the club to move on – him too.

    • essexclarets says:

Problem there is, his mind has no idea and his legs are no longer there. Lol 😀
thanks for everything, close the door on your way out.

  • Chicken Runner says:

Geezers got to move on,time to find some level he can contribute at.It is getting bloody painful to watch him on the pitch these days. Its almost embarressing, especially to think he is wearing the captains armband as well ffs.

  • essexclarets says:

Needs to leave now while he still has a tiny bit of respect left. Drop down to Championship &
be a mid table club captain.

  • bubs says:

Not sure he is good enough for the championship, needs to think about management,
He was never the most skilful and depended on hie engine and desire,
I feel now the engine is fukc and I don’t think he has the desire, not trying to drive a nail in his coffin but what more does he need to move,
I don’t want him to go through the same fate as hippo where he is hated but Slav must take him to one side and say you are not in my plans so find another club,
And after all he has done for the club let him go free to have a chance
    Bye Bye KN

  • danielson79 says:

Bit harsh. Im not his biggest fan and lets remember he has done a lot for west ham even if the last 2 seasons were not his best. I sincerely hope he does his coaching badges, our whole dressing room loves him and looks up to him and I think he would be a fantastic manager one day.

  • eriko says:

Kevin Nolan has suffered for being Sam’s favourite pet, and besides that he hasn’t been good enough lately.

I’ve never seen him say or do anything that in disrespected to the club or the fans, and even though his performances has been below par, I have the impression that he has been a fine role model off the pitch for younger players and the rest of the squad.

We used to have a great midfielder/captain called Scott Parker who lost his desire to fight for the club when we were relegated, Parker then 31 wanted to play at the highest level and left us for Spuds…

Nolan was in his prime at 28 when he took the challenge and lifted us from the championship in a difficult first season after relegation. We’ve stayed there since, and for the first time almost 15 years there is actually stability at our club.

Move on Kev, but I thank you and I hope the rest of the fans do as well!!

That said, I will not go to my bunker for this.. bring it on!! 😉

  • Chicken Runner says:

Nothing to bring on Viking Eriko. You said your piece others said theirs. No big deal.We know by now you have no filter anyway, lol 😀

  • bubs says:

Bit harsh, ok let’s hope he stays and plays every game,
Let’s see how harsh you are on him then
Just being honest and if he could hack it in the championship where are all the takers and don’t say it’s his wages , he would make a cracking player, coach signing for someone if he could hack it
Sorry I have nothing personal against him and am thankful for the first 2 years he was at our club, but now I never want to here his name again when our team and bench is released

  • Michael Miller says:

His times been up for quite a while – taking his money under false pretences now I’m afraid – Bolton would seem about his level now!

  • GW says:

He has been paid a kings ransom for playing for us, am I going to thank him? No I’m not he has simply taken a massive pay packet and done what he’s done…all this back slapping ****es me off, Collison played as much in our promotion year, Noble did, Cole did, Vaz Te scored our winning goal but it was all down to Nolan.. Goodbye Kev

    • eriko says:

It wasn’t all down to nolan, but nolan went down to us.

The midfield was a collison and noble act, done with kevin 🙂

      peace pipe
      over and out

  • MyOldMan says:

As a captain up until last year I really couldn’t fault the guy. He unified the team and helped put a bit of fight back into the lads after relegation.
As a player though, its just been one long slow decline to where we are now at which point he really isn’t cut out to be any part of a prem team. Grateful for his presence at the club but time for Kev to be put out to pasture.

  • HamburgHammer says:

He’s clearly looking for the easy way out: Payoff from West Ham keeping his wages intact no matter if he signs for a Championship or League One outfit and guaranteed playing time. I know he’s been a good skipper (and goalscorer at times) for us, but I’m disappointed with his attitude here.
Why not try and fight for your place in the team under a new manager, one that will not play you automatically because you’ve been best mate with him for years ?
Why not show some pride and fight for your place in the team for your 50K a week salary?
Why not try to pick up some skills and tricks from the new players coming in ?
Why not help bringing some of the younger players along ?
I would have expected more from our skipper in his final year at the club.
Of course all players want to play and start games.
But why does he think he of all players deserves to start games no matter what ?

  • GW says:

Hamburg he thinks all these things because for four years he was told he was irreplaceable as a captain, a player, a mentor and was the heartbeat of the club by the Dudley Dunce. I’m not going to back slap him and say he was the greatest captain we’ve had like others want to do, I’d respect him more if he said he knows his legs have gone ,he’s enjoyed his time at us but it’s time to move on ,but you won’t…. Anyway HH how’s everything going?

    • HamburgHammer says:

Cheers GW, well, it’s still a personal rollercoaster of emotions for me. We’ve finally cleared out my deceased mom’s house, with the help pf professionals as the house was just too cluttered with furniture and stuff.
Some of that is now in the basement of my tiny flat, so I will have to later on choose some of that stuff and throw the rest away later.
And we have decided on an estate agent and put the house on the market.
It is weird selling the house you grew up in as a kid, bags of memories attached to every wall, every part of the garden and porch.
Strangely enough I don’t even think that much about the money this will fetch.
I’m just sad the house will no longer be part of our family.
My tiny flat is in the Hamburg East End, so at least that one is fitting…:-)
      Thanks for asking.
Not to mention that West Ham will put me through another emotional rollercoaster again this season and especially when we leave the Boleyn.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Seems like a fair assessment to me and its good that he doesn’t want to be a bench warmer seeing out his contract. A dignified answer to a question put to him, if only Maiga had the same attitude. I think probably no matter how hard he trains he may struggle to prove he can fit into the style of play Bilic is looking to provide but who knows he has a good attitude and might prove us all wrong, whatever the outcome I wish him well because he has been a good servant to the club and a great club captain.

    • HamburgHammer says:

There is no difference to Maiga. Nolan will not accept a free transfer if it means lower wages, same as Maiga. Both want their payoffs which is understandable.
But Nolan wants guaranteed playing time/starts at his next club but still get his customary 50K a week that no other club would pay him.
So West Ham will have to fork out either way.
I consider this “Play me or sell me” statement as quite telling.
Under a new manager Nolan is not willing to start with a clean slate and fight for a place in the team like everyone else after being used to getting special treatment from Allardyce throughout his career.
Which is telling me he is basically waiting for Allardyce to find a new club and follow suit.

  • kevin says:

Nolan played his heart out to win us promotion , and continued playing his heart out for two seasons to keep us in the top flight . Unfortunately playing his heart out is not good enough anymore . He lacks the skill and the speed because although the heart is willing , the legs are not . Thanks Kevin Nolan , but it is better to go now and find a new place for yourself in football . Hope that West Ham can find a buyer for you or at least set you off in the right direction . Good Luck .

    • sleepswithdafishes says:

      qgreed.
But the only reason he is still here is that Bilic cant find a replcement for Song who is injured. When that happens Nolan goes and of course he knows it.

  • GW says:

How bout we just put it like this about KN? He signed for us, he was a captain of a squad of players that all contributed to getting us promoted(not just him), he was captain in 1st year of premier league captaining a squad of players that kept us up(not just him), he was captain in 2nd year captaining a squad of players, got sent off in back to back games but we stayed up(not just down to him), he missed the beginning of last season we had the best start to a season in years were playing attractive football scoring goals, he reclaimed so called fitness was put back in the side at the 1st site of AC the formation that was successful was consigned to the bin, there was no pace in the team his legs had gone but did our illustrious leader hold his hands up and say I’m out of form? No he kept plodding along being picked by his friendly hippo captaining his side to 4 wins in 18 matches.. So KN I’ll thank you for being part of a squad that was promoted ,a squad that stayed up started well then then reverted back to type when you returned… Bye Kev

    • The Boleyn Badger says:

Dont be silly GW.The other players had nothing to do with us being promoted.Only Sam & Nolan took us up,you should know that by now,lol

      • GW says:

My apologies Boleyn it completely slipped my mind that is was just the two of them lol…The Hippo with his tactical genius and his expensively assembled squad finishing 3rd and being outwitted by those giants of the management game Adkins and McDermott to the top two places, King Kev who played with his heart in every game whereas none of the squad did and simply stood in the same position, didn’t move a muscle throughout a whole season and contributed nothing lol… I shall never besmirch there names again all hail the messiahs, maybe with there god like powers they could sort Greece’s economy out…

  • MerryMichaelW says:

Goodbyeee, goodbyeee – wipe the tear, baby dear from your eyeee!

  • madham says:

Loan him out, the way we played Thursday night we will require him again in the championship in 12 months time!!!
