Former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has has agreed to become the new Crystal Palace manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal. Sam arrived at Crystal Palace’s training ground for talks earlier this afternoon with the Chairman Steve Parish. Big Sam is set to be in charge of the Eagles for Monday’s Boxing Day Premier League clash at Watford.
As he drove into the training ground, Allardyce told Sky Sports News through his car window “I’m just here to talk to Steve and assuming it all goes all right it should be ok.”
Allardyce lasted just 67 days with the Football Association, losing his dream England job in September after a newspaper sting where he made ill-advised comments to undercover reporters.
Another former Hammers boss Alan Pardew was sacked by the Palace board earlier this week after eight defeats in 10 Premier League matches.
Pardew was West Ham manager between 2003-2006, he managed 163 games winning 67 and drawing 38 to record a win record of 41.1%.
Allardyce managed the Irons between 2011-2015 for 181 games winning 69 games and drawing 45 for a win ratio of 38.12%.
Slaven Bilic has managed 75 games for the Hammers winning 30 and drawing 22 to record a win ratio of 40%.
Guess Kevin will be frantically writing letters to Santa throughout the day today asking for Palace memorabilia now that his messiah has dragged himself from his pile of dung and crawled into another management job 🙂
I wanted to get Kevin a signed photo of Hippohead leading England out at Wembley as a Christmas present.
Unfortunately they dont seem to exist GW lol 😁😁
There is a star shining over Selhurst park this evening as the messiah has returned!! Kevin and a couple of his sammerettes are making the arduous journey across London in the back of a cab as we speak to bestow him with gifts and chewing gum 🙂
I thought maybe Kev would he sharing a taxi over there with the guy from Mooro,Greenwood & Lyalls site of choice who thinks Hippo is the greatest manager in the history of football 😁
Nah there spending Xmas day together Rads watching Big Sams greatest clean sheet and corner DVD 🙂
BRAVO Stinger, well said – I get the sense that this may be BFS Annus Horribilis, and that daft myth finally evaporates – shame for palace but as you say, Meh!!!!!
Great news for us, means he cant end up back here any time soon. That would be the nightmare to end all nightmares.
So anyway, Sam Allardyce’s only claim to fame as a football manager is the so called ability to keep teams up, to consolidate. His trophy room remains empty despite all his years of being a football manager. He also still remains one of the if not THE most negative tactical managers in the game and leaves the fans of the clubs he has managed, hating him and waiting for the day he is gone.
Oh and has he himself has proven, is a money grabbing cheat ready to do the dirty on anyone that employs him.
Yet some still thought he was the ideal man to be the next ENGLAND manager. (Beggars belief)
No wonder more and more fans have turned their back on the England national team.
Crystal Palace are one of those teams that to another football fan you just think “meh”, but now I have to say I really hope they get relegated and the daft myth of Allardyce keeps teams up is finally put to bed.
As an Irons fan based in South London, surrounded by Palace fans, I have had a bloody good laugh at some friends expense today. Palace fans are saying “he’s what we need”.
I said “give it a year, you will bored to death……”
Lol yeah it happens every time. The fans say he is just what we need, one season later as they drift into comas they think differently 😁
Well apart from Kevin who thinks the sun shines out of his Dudley butthole 😉
None the three are great shouts .
Not Pardew , Alladyce or Bilic .
Only saving grace is Alladyce if you want to stay up and build a strong squad .
Pardew gets lost too easily and Bilic can’t see the woods for the trees .
Let’s just hope the January window lets some light shine through .
