Payet speaks about his beautiful memory of West Ham

PayetPayet has faced the French media today saying he has beautiful memories of West Ham supporters but does not feel he needs to justify his behaviour saying I don’t want to talk about this at the moment.

Payet told reporters: “I will always have a beautiful memory of the West Ham supporters. I had a great year there.

“I needed to come back to France to Marseille – it was a personal choice. I was not feeling good in the club anymore. I don’t need to justify my behaviour at all. Slaven Bilic and I had conversations face to face.

“It’s been a long time coming because I started my wrestling with West Ham a long time ago. If it had not been done, I would have assumed my responsibilities. But I did not feel very good there.”

“I will speak about this, but not now. It’s not the right moment. I prefer to savour this moment at a great club and return to that at a later date.”

  1. The Marseille fans can swallow his shallow words. They will be thinking differently of their returning hero in a season & a halfs time when he walks out on them…again.

  2. Im just toally indifferent towards the geezer now.Do i hate him,no chance.Do i want to wish him well at OM,no way 😬😁

  3. Said really like an MP, and a dim 😬😬 one at that !!

  4. I am still rather confused about this entire situation. It does seem that he was lead away by others such as Evra, the missus, his Mum etc. now he is saying that this is down to a bad feeling he had about the club for a very long time. what is the truth here?? why the hell did he sign a new contract if this was how he felt?? Perhaps it was greed that made him stay. His change of heart could have been perhaps the London Life, a Second cold winter; whatever it was it stinks. Call yourself a professional mate??

  5. “Started wrestling with West Ham along time ago”. Was that before or after he trousered a mill “loyalty bonus”. Despicable fat worm, showed his true colours. O M fans beware he will do it to you next year when he is fat and still lazy. Then he will be looking to snatch the Chinese yuan and leave you in the lurch. During the war he would have been a traitor because he has no loyalty but to himself. Good riddance, now we look like a team not a one man band. COYI X

  6. Can someone explain this to me? How in the hell is it possible for someone who plays a game, gets a million pound loyalty bonus (paid early to help with tax issues as I understand it) and gets a massive raise after a few months, tormented? He didn’t seem to be tormented when he was singing the praises of the club back in May and he didn’t seem to upset when he willingly signed his new contract. This all sounds like agent-speak for: “Marseille tapped me up and I don’t want to get them in trouble.”

This sounds about as believable as “my back hurts”.

  7. Apart from the shedloads of money the club felt justified in paying the bloke to ensure he stayed with us, he was one of those very rare players who was instantly adored by fans, given his very own song, and vocally supported both home and away. I seem to remember the wee man being rather humbled by this at first.

All seemed to go well until……. France called him up. (This on the back of his game prospering immensely at the club.) It was on his return that a different story, a very different attitude emerged.

And if you read all the players’ comments about the problems surrounding Payet when they felt justified in having a go;, mention is made by several of them of his attitude reeking at that point. They were clearly very very angry at him. The reason those stories broke was because they were sick to death of themselves and the manager carrying the can for the wee fat man.

I have been an Irons supporter since 1967, and although many stories may have been lost in the dim and distant mists of…… alcohol …… I really can’t think of any other player causing such a ****storm. Nor of any players bad mouthing another.

One thing: Can’t see anyone likely to complain ever again that the stadium is lacking in atmosphere, nor that it will ever be home to us. Because that match showed us otherwise, didn’t it!

    COYI!!
