Club offer to replace Payet shirts

|

west-ham-15-home-payetWest Ham Vice Chairman Karren Brady has told West Ham Supporters they can trade in their old Payet replica shirts for £25 at the club shop following the French man’s departure yesterday.

The cost of a new shirt is usually £55 but there is a sale on meaning adult shirts are currently £36.66 meaning a saving of £11.66.

Brady tweeted “Morning, bring back your Payet shirt to any of the club shops & you will get a new replacement for £25, full details on WHU web site today.”

The club have since confirmed the £25 replacement shirt offer does not include name and number printing which will be a disappointment for many.

Maybe a wasted PR opportunity for the club, while a £11.66 discount is better than nothing a free shirt or free printing and numbers would have gone a lot further with the West Ham faithful.

The cost of a new (blank) shirt is £36.66 because they’ve cut the price to try and shift the remaining stock.

Do you get printing as part of the £25 offer? Cos this article reads like the club is saving you £50 when actually, if your new £25 shirt is blank, you only save £11.66.

They don’t have to do anything, most clubs don’t when they sell a player. Moan for the sake of moaning.

      • PopRobson says:

Agree, the first thing I thought when I read this was that this will be moaned about…and heh presto two on here already.

        • RJS79 says:

I’m not moaning about the offer, I’m moaning about the reporting. And in fact, I’m asking for clarification because it’s not clear.

  • WHUPete says:

Had a great chance of having a positive Public relations excercise there especially after all the greedy frog fiasco. Instead she blew it by charging £25 for a replacement shirt. Now who’s greedy. 🤔👎

    • essexclarets says:

For the few fans who had a Payet tattoo do the club pay for laser treatment to remove it? Fans take a chance with having a name on their shirt, if that player then moves why do the club pay for a new shirt? How many shirts are there out there with ex-players on the back?

      • WHUPete says:

Loads. But I don’t see any with Ince, Defoe or Lampard on the back!

        • RJS79 says:

It’s just a way to shift some stock. It’s a good idea but it’s neither doing the fans a service, nor greedily gouging them for more money.

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

Jesus, you just can’t please some people. You literally want the shirt off the clubs back?

Why is it that whatever the club does to try and do right by fans, you always get people who take to the Internet to complain about being hard done by? Essex is quite right – they don’t have to do anything, but they are. Despite the profit made from his sale, which will inevitably go back into the squad, the Board is as disappointed as the rest of us, so why don’t we just show a bit of solidarity rather than picking?

  • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

Lol it dont bother me because i havnt got a Payet shirt.Seems to me like they really had no need to do anything just because a player got sold.Im sure everytime a player gets sold not every club gives a refund or does something like this.Still each to their own,i will stick with my Zaza one,i think he will play Wednesday 😂

  • essexclarets says:

The shirts were sold in good faith as Payet was a West Ham player until yesterday. What about any shirt with Zaza on it? Replace them as well? If anyone should pay for a replacement it should be the ungrateful little c**t who no doubt had a image rights deal in place.

  • kevin says:

A few licks of paint over that 27 shirt that’s hanging there would serve its purpose no end .
It can be quickly recovered with the 9 shirt , which deserves a lot more praise and recognition . Reckon the fans were suckered in by some French perfume that eventually turned putrid .
As for refunds and shirt changes , it was only that French worm that refused to play , so other players that left under a cloud are exempt under these conditions .

  • John says:

Here’s an idea if you don’t want to spend £25 on a new blank. Shirt then keep your bloody Payet shirt you ungrateful people!

  • Hammer and Pickle says:

Is it not simple. If you have a Payet shirt & want to change it if it is the road you wish to go down then good luck to you.If you dont then dont. Its unbelievable how something like this can snowball in to another moanfest about the club.Mainly from fans who aint even got a Payet shirt to change i doubt ffs!

  • Coolio says:

Reading some of the comments across the board on Irons sites you would think this was compulsory not the individuals choice.Sheesh some fans make mountains out of molehills just to get a moan on going.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Sky were reporting that they would exchange them including a new name and number for £25, as for people moaning about the club, if Payet had been sold last summer no one would have been getting an exchange, it is a gesture on behalf of the club, next season there will probably be a new shirt so its personal choice if people want to swap it or not.

  • Stratford E20 says:

Some people just love to moan about anything and everything to do with West Ham. We have some fans with terrible attitudes about the club that they claim to support. God help their children towards a more contented life.

  • mooro66uk says:

WHU Pete, did the club offer cheap replacements for Lampard,Ince and Defoe shirts? I can’t see what your argument is.
