Sakho/Valencia reunion looks on cards

|

Diafra-Sakho-008Diafra Sakho is fit for the clash against Manchester United on Sunday and with Andy Carroll expected to be out for another week there’s a big chance the Senegal hitman will be reunited with Enner Valencia.

It would be the first time since the game against Aston Villa when the Geordie created a big impact in the last five minutes.

Sakho and the club have escaped from Fifa  investigation into why he didn’t travel to the African Cup of Nations and David Gold has made it clear the striker is set to lead the attack..

ValenciaactionAsked on Twitter about Sakho’s return his response was: “He is fit and available for selection. dg”

Sakho and Valencia featured in eight games at the start of the season and often produced a mesmerizing partnership which many fans have been demanding to see again.

This weekend may well present that opportunity and it will be interesting to see whether the manager looks in their direction or Carlton Cole’s.

Sam will be gutted if he has to play these two together. He might actually have to give the majority of the fans what they want. That will really pain him 😉

  • Roman says:

If Sahko/Valencia play together there really is a football God!

  • bubs says:

BFS will play Sakho up front by himself so he can fit Nolan as a extra in midfield and use the excuse that we are weak at the back with injures,
We have no chance of sitting back against a team that boasts Rooney,Van Persie,De Maria and Falcone,in years past Rooney has beaten us by his self,
We need to out score them and that means we need Valencia and Sakho up front and a attacking midfield not pedestrian

  • joe7211 says:

he will play cole you watch so they wont prove him wrong then bring inner on for the last 15 min when the game is lost

  • bubs says:

If BFS acts as he normally does Cole will never get playing time again this season,
There no one sulks like are manager and Nolan still needs that 100 goal,
The problem is even if he plays Sakho and Valencia up front and they play well when Carroll returns he and Nolan will be back for the cup game ( trying a bit of reverse physiology) as normally BFS does the opposite to what we all want.

  • rads45 says:

There will only officially be a football god when the team is read out & Nolan isnt playing & Downing is back where he should be in the diamond behind these guys.Wont hold my breathe though. Why would Sam want to play a successful entertaining system, thats far too logical 😉

  • Michael Miller says:

You’d expect BFS to screw it up as per normal – Nolan up top with Sakho or Downing out wide are favourites!

  • tony says:

looks like we are all on the same page then – NOLAN STARTS!!! Who cares if we have three central defenders injured – or we do have Sakho and Valencia back to entertain us – we will still be playing with ten men. Is Sam blind?

  • rugbyirons says:

Nolan will play up or off sakho.like at chelski bfs will totally blow it and we will be embarrassed on TV again.this game should have a red warning.

    • Roman says:

I suspect Rugby is correct and we will get beaten by Man United.Time will tell how the genius Allardyce will set up his team.

  • johnham1 says:

If he does not play Sakho and Enner he should be sacked for a dereliction of duty. There is no excuse not to play them if they are fit. David’s what are ye playing at – we know ye are football men but come on surely ye have enough – put him on gardening leave.

  • oldiron says:

If Sam doesn’t play Sakho and Valencia up front with Downing at the tip of the diamond then he should be sacked, no matter that we may be a bit light at the back, attack is the best form of defence and Man Utds’ defence is there for the taking.
If he is worried about the defence play two defensive midfielders, Kouyate and Poyet.
My Team : ADRIAN, JENKINSON,COLLINS,DEMEL ,CRESSWELL KOUYATE, SONG, POYET, DOWNING, SAKHO,VALENCIA
If Jenkinson is not fit play Demel there and if Collins not fit move Kouyate to centre half and bring in Amalfatino.
Been supporting the Irons for 55 years and I can do a better job of picking the team than Sam, he is obsessed with Nolan and Carroll and should be sent packing along with them both, we do not need Carroll and the money we would get for him would enable us to buy Song and Jenkinson, then buy forwards to compliment the style of Sakho and Valencia and bring back Zarate, buy a right back as cover and two centre halves , job done Europe here we come. My friends and I have paid good money to watch the Man. Utd. game and if Sam f**** up we would be entitled to ask for his head, The Club is the fans, not Sam,we will go on supporting long after Sam has gone and it can’t come quick enough for me. COYI
