Alberto deal off

According to the Sky Sports journalist Dharamesh Sheth, it looks like we are going to walk away from the deal to sign Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians,

He claims that there has been “no resolution” on the transfer fee despite Alberto agreeing personal terms.

Now, you may think that is a crushing blow?

But the Irons have dodged a bullet there.

The Brazilian news outlet GE claims that Corinthians only actually own 50 per cent of the economic rights of Alberto, with the remaining half still being owned by his former club Zenit St Petersburg.

Confused?

So am I – and it brings back painful memories of the Tevez and Mascherano “third party “ saga of 2006 in which we ended up nearly having a points deduction which would have led to certain relegation then and paying the relegated Sheffield United £20 million.

We certainly don’t want to go down that particular road again !

This is not even similar to the Tevez and Mascherano situation of 2006. I’ll put money on Alberto becoming a Hammer.

I for one is still hoping we get Ekitike, as he will be a quality pick up, it doesn’t look like we will offload Ings as he has rejected a move to Everton.
