Fifa to pay for Edson Alvarez injury
It will come as little consolation to learn that West Ham will be due some compensation following Edson Alvarez’s injury, which he sustained on international duty.
The Hammers’ defensive midfielder had to be escorted off the pitch after suffering a hamstring strain as Mexico won 1-0 against Jamaica. Alvarez was clearly in some discomfort following the injury and was visibly upset when leaving the pitch.
West Ham are eligible for compensation under the FIFA Club Protection Programme (CPP) for Alvarez and are well used to the procedure, having used it when Jarrod Bowen sustained a knock during England duty last season.
This insurance policy will cover Alvarez’s full wages after the initial 28 days, up to a maximum duration of 365 days and a limit of £6 million per player.
The signing from Ajax has recently been linked with a £60 million transfer to Manchester United to join up with former boss Erik ten Hag.
Gonzo, I believe Mexico won today (not yesterday) 1-0 after Arteaga scored on 69 minutes. You have the report as a 0-0 draw.
Cheers for the heads up on the typo mate
