West Ham’s medics and the player himself are confident that Michail Antonio is not suffering a new hamstring problem but he will be scanned on Monday morning to ensure that all is well.
The brilliant Hammers central striker left the action during the second half after a top performance and magnificent goal having departed early against Spurs last weekend in similar circumstances.
And David Moyes commented after today’s game that while he was hopeful the No 30 wasn’t suffering a more serious problem he was concerned that he had reported the same issue in successive games.
Michail was reported as having said that he had felt something in the hamstring area but after being examined following the game West Ham’s medics are of the opinion that he was suffering only from cramp.
And we were told this evening that the player himself was much happier, believing the same, although having taken him out of the action as a precaution, the club will adopt the same policy and ensure he has a scan on Monday morning.
If true, fantastic news and it is brilliant to know that his vulnerability to hamstring issues is being professionally managed by the player and manager alike. Under other managers, this issue wasn’t managed at all, which meant we lost Antonio for much longer than we should have done.
It’s what managers are meant to do, manage their resources effectively.
If true?
Pending the scan?
Come on, Hugh – you’re the one that put ‘injury’ in inverted commas, so you can’t blame The Cat for a little scepticism. I agree with him that it’s good to see Mikey’s vulnerability being properly managed at last and a bit of care taken.
We are relying so much on antonia that as soon as he goes off we look poor.
Haller comes on and he just doesn’t look interested. The sooner we get rid of him the better.
