Ward Prowse should turn his back on England

Michail Antonio has accused the England manager of ‘taking the mick’ out of fellow Hammer James Ward Prowse.

Antonio did not hold back in expressing his frustration over England manager Gareth Southgate’s decision to exclude James Ward-Prowse from the latest England squad. JWP has been a standout performer for the Hammers since his move from Southampton. He has notched regular assists and goals since his arrival at The London Stadium.

Antonio voiced his concerns over the apparent favouritism seen in the selections, particularly highlighting Ward-Prowse’s consistent form and contributions. He described Southgate’s decision as “embarrassing” and questioned the rationale behind overlooking a player in top form while including others with limited playing time.

Furthermore, Antonio emphasized the importance of rewarding players based on their performance and statistics, suggesting that the selection process should prioritise those who are excelling and playing regularly for their clubs.

Antonio underlined the significance of being recognized for one’s accomplishments, stating that players performing at their best deserve the honour of representing their country on the international stage.

The forward declared. “I’m not talking just because he’s my team-mate. There are other players out there that are doing well, that should also get the call-up as well.”

If Ward-Prowse does receive a call-up in future, Antonio thinks he should tell Southgate where to go.

He said: “I ain’t going to lie – if I was James, I wouldn’t go! I’m being deadly serious – I would not go. I’d be like, ‘I’m not playing for you. Why would I do that?
