Rumours of a rift between Nuno and Areola have been denied by sources close to the club.
Areola has yet to make an appearance for West Ham this season, and his absence has sparked speculation on social media.
His wife, Marion Areola, previously criticised Nuno Espírito Santo for excluding her husband without reason, which helped fuel rumours.
Areola Has Yet To Feature This Season
The goalkeeper’s last appearance in a West Ham shirt was in the Premier League against Leeds United on the last day of the season.
He was on the bench and an unused substitute against Portsmouth at home in the cup, Burnley away, and Charlton at home, but went missing from the bench for the Watford away game and has stayed out of the matchday squad since.
In the previous cup game against Southampton, Areola pulled out late in the day after suffering a calf injury, forcing West Ham into a late change and handing young goalkeeper Herrick his opportunity.
West Ham Sources Dismiss Rift Rumours
Areola suffered a dead leg that kept him out of the Wrexham game, on which Nuno confirmed, “With Areola, it was a dead leg, but he is improving, and we are continuing to assess him day by day.”
That dead leg kept him out of Tuesday’s game against Fulham, but sources close to the club insist he will return to the matchday squad when fit.
