West Ham and London Stadium are this morning (Fri) reported as being close to finalising the identification of 200 individuals who will receive stadium bans following incidents of disorder during the club’s win over Chelsea.
The club, operators, the Metropolitan Police and Chelsea are looking to work together in the investigation, with extensive CCTV footage being shared.
The Mirror reports three men have already been charged by police with regards offences including common assault, assault on a police officer, throwing missiles and possession of class A drugs.
A statement released says that banning notifications will be issued for offences ranging from the use of abusive and offensive language to missile throwing.
The club haave made it clear in a statement that all those involved in the disturbances will receive a seasonal or lifetime ban depending on the severity of the offence.”
However, it adds: “We wish to thank the genuine supporters who are behaving impeccably when attending matches at London Stadium for their fantastic support. We wish to assure them that we will work tirelessly to ban those who seek to affect their enjoyment and match experience.”
A spokesperson for London Stadium Safety Advisory Group described the security and safety operation as “robust”. The spokesperson added: “There are no plans to review the safety certificate or to reduce the stadium capacity.”
