Better than Sorba – West Ham make move for Premier League winger

Image for Better than Sorba – West Ham make move for Premier League winger

Clearly evident from West Ham’s last two preseason fixtures, the lack of pace engendered from the sale of Crysencio Summerville requires an urgent fix ahead of the Championship campaign: Whilst Bowen on the right is mobile and aggressive, the rest of the team lacks pace going forward.

Keiber Lamadrid doesn’t look the answer, again short of the pace and that ability to beat defenders that will be crucial in the second division if West Ham are to live unto their pre-season favourites billing.

Hence the links with various wide men this summer including former West Ham academy player Sorba Thomas, one of last season’s more prolific in the Championship. However, there’s a feeling that West Ham can do better: At least, that’s the claim from thehardtackle.com, who believe the Hammers are lining up a move for Sunderland’s left sided Simon Adingra:

“Simon Adingra is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the ongoing transfer window, and they have their sights set on the 24-year-old Sunderland winger

Per Keith Downie, West Ham and Sunderland are in contact over a loan deal for Adingra after the East London club submitted an enquiry. West Ham will hope the Black Cats sanction another temporary exit for the Ivorian winger after he spent the second half of the 2025/26 season with AS Monaco.”

Which would be a low-budget solution to their left sided issues: However convincing Adingra to drop down to a second tier season after spending last year at Monaco may be a tough ask.  Whilst discussions between the two clubs are described elsewhere as ‘ongoing’, this feels like another one that may not get done until very late in the window as the player’s agent seeks to unearth a better move for Adingra than ‘lowly’ West Ham United.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Look carefully at Sullivan’s track record and think will he go quietly ? I don’t think so, it,s a game to him and not football ! I worry about our chances unless something happens in the transfer market quickly and Nuno can actually get a tune out of a bunch of strangers

I thought last years recruitment was too late and we are doing exactly the same thing again. With Paco gone as well(our attacking coach), doesn’t Nuno know how to play on the front foot.
We want to stay positive but all we keep hearing is ‘we are interested’ and players are going and no one is coming in.
I watched the Rangers game and we looked like we didn’t want to lose rather than going for the win against a pretty average Rangers.
With 50,000 season ticket holders backing the club it can go pretty toxic over there pretty quickly so the board and Nuno need to get their fingers out. COYI

Good one, D.M. I reckon Jarrod Bowen will be feeling like he’s had his glass nicked too! It seems like Kretinsky the snake has convinced both Vanessa Gold and Jarrod to trust him and conned both of them. He’s very good at investing and making sh*t loads of money though. Not sure he’s really honest with the club or supporters though. Could Amanda Staveley be better?

West Ham are broke, nobody of any consequence coming in, only HASBEENS and CAST OFF’S, can’t even get reasonable odds on relagation. If you run something like a circus, you get a circus, Sullivan stil in charge of the show of course , used to be a half glass full when it came to West Ham, but now it feels like I’ve had my glass nicked.

  • Hammeroo says:

Lowly West Ham not United because Kretinsky is blaming Vanessa Gold for him not doing anything about buying her shares. Now we hear that Kretinsky is concerned that Jarrod Bowen may feel let down by him. Oh really, well who would have thought! Honestly, you couldn’t make this stuff up. It’s like the Keystone Cops. I think the ‘silent partner’ Kretinsky has a hell of a lot to answer for. Put up or shut up!

    • Dagenham Dave says:

Hammeroo there are 50,000 sth that feel let down by Kretinsky, three days before the season starts and we sell yet another player that has weakened the squad further while still waitung for us to sign a single player of the four that we desperately need

      Stll a circus

    • M B says:

How do you know it’s all down to Kretinsky? Nobody knows what has been going on behind the scenes and it could well have been Vanessa Gold that made the sale difficult. Plus we know that Kretinsky can’t go above 50% otherwise he has to buy the 🤡’s shares at a massively inflated price to current value. Thats why he has sold 2% of his holding so he can sweep up the Gold family shares at both pre-emption rounds ensuring the Property. Carpetbagger fails in taking over the club. These issues have probably made it hard to sanction any spend and let’s be honest not many players would want sign until this cloud of uncertainty is resolved.
