Bookies Rice/City odds just daft

|

Bookmakers have heavily slashed the odds of Declan Rice joining Manchester City this January but the chances of that happening can be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Several of the High Street bookies have slashed the odds from 20/1 to 5/2. At the start of the window was 1/18 to stay with the Hammers but that has also been cut to 1/3.

FRankly they look a bit daft and it’s important to remember there is a limit of around £50 on such bets which the bookies offer for novelty value purposes only.

Pep Guardiola’s outfit are looking for a back up to Fernandinho who – at 33 – is coming towards the end of his time at the club.

And with Rice performing so well in the defensive midfield role for the Hammers it is obvious he will be linked with the club.

However, it seems seriously unlikely that his representatives – having played hardball with the Hammers for so long over a new deal – would have bothered agreeing a LONG TERM Hammers deal if the City interest was so real.

They could have agreed a shorter contract – or not one at all – and waited for any bid which they would surely have known was on the way.

And Declan himself said there was never any doubt about his signing for the club which was always his intention.
