Bowen out to make Hammers history

|

Jarrod Bowen is out to make West Ham history in the run-in this season.

The Irons star has scored a total of 16 goals this season ahead of the second leg of the Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

We have to go back to the 1999/2000 season to find another player who has scored as many, with Paolo Di Canio netting 16 times.

But in 1997/98, John Hartson managed to score 19 times, with 15 goals coming in the Premier League, two in the League Cup, and two in the FA Cup.

No West Ham player in the Premier League era has ever scored 20 goals in one season, involving the top-flight – Teddy Sheringham did it in the Championship, but nobody has done it at the very highest level.

Bowen will surely have his sights set on being the first player to do it, which would be a remarkable achievement for a player who does not even play up front.

Tonight would be a great place to start.
