Bowen to Villa? Hammers Confidence Grows After Latest Twist

Bowen exit claims already looking premature

talkSPORT may well have jumped the gun with their assertion that a deal to take Jarrod Bowen from West Ham to the Midlands was all but done.

The claim was repeated by Sam Delaney on the The West Ham Way podcast on Tuesday evening, although it should be said that podcast founder ExWHUEmployee Patreon pushed back against the claim.

As Claret & Hugh reported earlier this week, Aston Villa had other priorities, namely securing a No.10, a piece of information which was given to us by a leading football agent.

It is now becoming increasingly clear that the Hammers hierarchy are growing more confident of retaining captain Bowen ahead of a push to get back into the Premier League. Something which has also possibly curtailed Aston Villa’s interest is the fact they have recently been found guilty of financial breaches and, two days ago, were hit with a significant fine.

Villa’s financial issues cast further doubt

Aston Villa have been fined £19.4 million by UEFA for a significant breach of its squad cost rule for 2025.

Not only do West Ham have growing confidence in retaining Bowen, but the likelihood of Aston Villa being able to afford the sort of £50 million transfer fee it would take to sign the 29-year-old from the Hammers would now appear increasingly unlikely.

The Villans’ star man and England midfielder Morgan Rogers remains an important asset and could yet be sold in a mega-money move. But as things stand, reports that Bowen is on the cusp of moving to Villa Park would seem to be extremely premature, if indeed they are true at all.
