Kilman Gives West Ham The Lead

West Ham lead Burnley 1-0 at half-time at Turf Moor thanks to Max Kilman’s tenth-minute header from Jarrod Bowen’s corner.

Burnley actually started the brighter of the two teams and had a couple of early shots which went wide, while Mads Hermansen produced one nervy moment when he raced outside his area to clear and left his goal exposed. Fortunately, Oliver Sonne was unable to punish him.

Kilman’s goal settled West Ham down. The defender rose to head home Bowen’s corner and could have added another when he headed over from a Bowen free-kick.

The skipper has been excellent. Bowen’s delivery for the goal gave him his first assist of the season, but it has been his work-rate which has really stood out, battling for absolutely everything. Kyle Walker-Peters also produced an excellent pass into Bowen which almost created another goal.

Orford Impresses In Midfield

Lewis Orford continues to look incredibly comfortable in midfield. His passing has been lovely and he made at least three blocks during the half, while Mohamadou Kanté has shown again how easily he can side-step opposition players.

Manor Solomon has looked very tricky on the left and combined well with Ollie Scarles, producing a brilliant delivery shortly before the break.

Taty Castellanos has dropped deep and linked play well, while Pablo Felipe has provided the usual graft.

After a slightly nervy opening, West Ham grew into the game and will be very happy to take a 1-0 lead into the second half.
