“The long road back” starts today after West Ham United’s relegation dispatched the club to the second division last May.
46 games lie ahead with a huge workload and frequent twice-weekly games to take it’s toll on a Hammers’ squad that still needs additions, but finally the club seems to be getting to grips with the transfer window.
Midfielder Arne Engels was signed too late to be eligible for today’s trip to Turf Moor but new winger and debutant Manor Solomon should start: We await Nuno’s first Championship line to to gain an insight into how he proposes to approach the season: Cautious away from home or full-on looking to dominate? The squad selection should tell us all.
West Ham United’s line up has just been released and here it is – with full debuts for Solomon and Lewis Orford – who starts a game in the league under Nuno for the first time
West Ham United:
Hermansen | Walker Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Scarles, | Orford, Kante, Solomon, Bowen | Castellanos, Pablo

The 4.00pm kick off is live on Sky and we will be back after the game with player ratings and detailed analytics plus of course you can make your own comments known after the final whistle.
Need Alvarez in that team mate
What is wrong with this club? Keeping hold of a manager who is found wanting in every department. Poor man management skills, poor tactics, poor substitutions, poor team selection.
NES did state in his presser that we had injuries to players other than Soucek.
I imagine Alvarez and Magassa must be close to departure from that team line up. It makes it even more curious that Potts was allowed to go
Last week we read that West Ham were doing everything in their power to get Engels registration sorted in time for today’s game, but apparently 10 weeks just wasn’t enough. It is frustrating when other clubs seem to be able to close a deal within 3- 4 days. Better late than never, true, but the hierarchy definitely need to up their game to help West Ham get back to where they belong.
So I guess more departures are imminent, but just look at that line up. Even with Engels we need a decent left back, and a main striker (please not Joel Piroe). Should get a result today, but the starting eleven has glaring holes and the lack of squad depth will be found out over a 46 game season.
Wow …..i believe Alvarez will be off then and Diouf to……Kante and Orford have had a big weight put on their shoulders today so time to man up Lads and show us what you got.
No alvarez . That’s him fulkrug ,tobido and magassa all sitting in the stand counting their salary we better get a result or nuno needs to look for his suitcase
I am struggling to understand how Pablo always plays. I don’t know one supporter who rates him at all. Nuno hasn’t got a clue.
Frustratingly I imagine Alvarez will now leave this week
