West Ham chief David Sullivan to do a Jarrod Bowen  on Divin Mubama as he bids to have the teenage strike sensation sign a new Hammers deal. The last word was that the teenager was refusing to agree a new deal with his agents playing hardball. It had been much the same with Jarrod before Sullivan spoke to him on his own and saw the No 20 agree a deal a seven year deal within a few days of the two having discussed the situation.

The club is desperate to see Mubama agree a new deal before becoming a free transfer at the end of the season and Claret and Hugh understands that the largest shareholder – Sullivan – is now preparing to use the same tactic with the exciting young striker as he did with Bowen. The plan is to  convince him that he is a serious first team prospect before allowing him out on loan next season and he will be offered a deal which very much reflects his worth.

Sullivan, working closely with new technical director Tim Steidten, rapidly closed the deal on Bowen with Liverpool and other clubs watching closely

Mubama can be certain he will not be allowed away until ultimate pressure has been placed on him. We are being told that his agents are making huge claims on his behalf which – given he still has to make the first team – simply aren’t on.

But our guess would be – based on Declan Rice’s last deal – the club may be ready to offer Divin around £30,000 a week with maybe extra for his first team appearances. We will put our necks on the block and prophesy that Mubama remains a Hammer.

Agents of course get a much slicer share of any deal when a player is on a free and that may well be the case here.
