One West Ham fan posted a plea on twitter “Recently my nan passed away with cancer, she was a lifelong West ham fan and had a passion about football. She tried to make it to every West Ham game that she could because she loved every minute whether we were winning or losing, my grandad is really suffering and could really do with some cheering up, he is a massive West Ham United fan and I want to be able to get in contact with Someone from West Ham United in a hopeful attempt of cheering him up. Please retweet this to get some recognition! Thanks”
The club privately messaged the supporter back which he decided to share on social media.
The club direct messaged him to say “Hello, My name is Rob Pritchard and I’m in the media department at WHUFC. First off, please accept my condolences on behalf of the Club for the loss of your grandmother. We saw your tweet and would like to do something to cheer you and your Grandad up. Namely, we would like to invite you and your grandad to come to our Rush Green training ground and Slaven Bilic and the players next Thursday 3rd November. You will be able to attend Slaven’s press conference, then watch training pitchside and get some photos and autographs afterwards.”
ClaretandHugh have been told that the fan’s grandfather is not available next Thursday so next week’s visit will not go ahead but may well still happen at a later date. In the meantime, the club are planning to send the grandfather a signed shirt with his name on it.
