Clubs “sniffing” at Hammers defender

|

Back to Germany for Reece?

West Ham have denied there is any immediate interest in Reece Oxford from Bundesliga outfit  Eintracht Frankfurt following a report from Sky Sports who claimed the German club were ready to offer £8 million.

The story emerged yesterday but according to the Hammers there has been no contact with the club although there may be some interest elsewhere in Germany.

The Mirror has also claimed that Nottingham Forest boss Martin O’Neill is also showing an interest in the central defender but there is no confirmation of that from inside the London Stadium.

Despite problems at the heart of the defence with the team conceding four against Wimbledon, and ongoing injuries to Winston Reid and Fabian Balbuena, there is apparently no way back into the Hammers first team squad for a youngster who was considered the best of his generation a couple of years back.

A senior source told us by e mail: “It’s not true that Eintracht have made an offer but there have been some Bundesliga team sniffing – so it’s about waiting and seeing.”
