Declan shows where heart is …with his U23 buddies

|

Declan Rice shrugged aside all the new contract and international talk this afternoon by demonstrating there was only one place he wanted to be…among his academy buddies.

No sooner had training at Rush Green finished than he, Conor Coventry, Grady Diangana and Joe Powell headed straight for Chadwell Heath to join in the celebrations of last night with the rest of the youngsters.

Dec led the way – determined to ensure that he enjoyed the moment with the other lads who now see great hope that their careers can – if they work hard enough – take off under manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The manager was quoted recently after being asked if he liked young players as saying: “I like good players -young or old.”

And with 19 year old Declan showing what he’s all about he obviously can’t  wait to let the academy lads know at Chadwell the opportunity is there and what the club and his pals mean to him.

Dec was beaming as he joined in with the celebrations – probably hitherto seen in the club’s history – after four youngsters appeared last night – demonstrating the new manager has his finger on every aspect of club activity.

Good on you Dec – future WHUFC skipper. No problem!

Now we know where your heart really is!
