David Gold has been a regular presence alongside Michail Antonio during the first troubled days of his West Ham career.
And although no one was happy to see Victor Moses leave the Old Trafford action on Saturday, Gold was delighted to see the £7 million signing acquit himself so well in the second half.
The 25 year old admitted that getting forward was a problem as he isn’t fully match fit but he did a fine job on a couple of occasions and Gold believes the outing will give him the confidence he needs to move on – presumably at home against Stoke City.
Gold told ClaretandHugh: “He’s shown great patience and what a way to make your first big appearance . It wasn’t easy for him but I thought he did really well and certainly didn’t look overawed or out of place.
“After a big money move it would have been easy for him to try to over impress but he was very professional and made an extremely important intervention at the back.
“With Victor Moses looking likely to be out for a period that was an important appearance for Michail and he will take a lot of confidence from that match.”
That’s right a fantastic defensive block last ditch tackle he made which shows he’s got more to offer the team than just being a one trick leg it up the pitch pony.
