West Ham boss David Moyes has been given new hope that Brighton’s Shane Duffy is ready to join the Hammers.
It comes in the shape of a claim from one of his closest pals that the Brighton defender is ready to choose the Hammers over his boyhood heroes Celtic.
The Duffy scenario has been going on for several days and a recent tweet from the 28 year when he declared “Back with the boys” appeared to heavily hint he wanted a move to Parkhead with just the letter ‘h’ perhap missing from his tweet.
However, his best friend Sean Roddy – a sports management consultant based in Brighton – has now ‘revealed’the London Stadium is the favoured destination for his pal.
Duffy has been a first choice for the back line for Moyes for days and is likely to command a fee of £5 million but there have been fears that Celtic boss Neil Lennon will beat us to the punch.
Celtic supporters have been swamping Duffy’s Instagram page in recent days urging the Republic of Ireland to join the Premiership champions.
But the fresh twist came when Roddy told a West Ham follower that the no-nonsense stopper would prefer a switch to the London Stadium.
The die-hard Hammers fan wrote: “Tell Shane to go to West Ham, we love him here, loads of Irish Hammers.”
And Roddy promptly responded: “He wants to lad, find out this week.”

Aye would be a great signing for us right enough.
And Duffy thinks Declan Rice is a good lad too. Was once quoted as saying Rice would captain Ireland one day, and is playing for a big club in West Ham. Ok so he got the first part wrong but he was right about West Ham being a big club. I’m sure Liam Brady wouldn’t have come to play for West Ham otherwise.
Would be a solid signing for us.
