West Ham midfielder Edson Álvarez has broken his silence over serious allegations made in Mexico, categorically denying any involvement and revealing that he has instructed his legal team to consider action against those making or spreading false claims.
As Claret & Hugh reported earlier, filmmaker Juan José López Ordóñez publicly made a series of unsubstantiated allegations concerning an alleged kidnapping in November 2024.
It must again be stressed that the allegations against Álvarez have not been established and there has been no finding that the West Ham midfielder was involved in any kidnapping.
At the time, a source close to the player told C&H that Álvarez had no knowledge of or involvement in the alleged incident.
Now the Mexican international has responded himself.
Álvarez Categorically Denies Involvement
In a lengthy statement, Álvarez said:
“I categorically reject any allegation or attempt to associate my name with events, conflicts, or conduct that are entirely unrelated to me.”
The 28-year-old claims his name and image have repeatedly been used in recent months to generate publicity around a situation which has “nothing to do with me”.
Álvarez said he had previously chosen not to respond, but added:
“There are limits, and attributing knowledge, responsibility, or involvement in matters of this nature to me without presenting a single piece of evidence clearly crosses that line.”
He also challenged anyone claiming to possess evidence of wrongdoing to present it to the appropriate authorities.
“If anyone believes they have evidence of any wrongdoing on my part, there are authorities, prosecutors, and courts before which they can present it.”
West Ham Star Instructs Lawyers
Perhaps the most significant part of the statement is Álvarez’s confirmation that lawyers have now become involved.
“I have instructed my legal team to evaluate and pursue the appropriate legal action against any person who makes or disseminates false allegations against me.”
Álvarez also directly addressed reports attempting to connect him to the matter through his former partner’s father.
He declined to comment on allegations concerning third parties but made his own position emphatically clear:
“It is my responsibility to make one thing absolutely clear: I have nothing to do with the events being reported.”
The midfielder concluded by saying his priority remains his daughters, family and professional career.
It’s an unequivocal response from Álvarez and one which echoes what C&H was told by a source close to the player when the allegations first emerged.
The accusations made against the Mexican international are extremely serious.
Álvarez’s response is equally clear: he denies them categorically and is now prepared to pursue the matter through his lawyers.
Will this affect any involvement in whu team could Nuno use this to eliminate him being used?
Using Paqueta as an example this could go on for sometime admittedly circumstances are different..
Lawyers involvement how long is a bit of string.
