Excellent Hammers beaten by two penalties

Manchester United 2 Irons 1

There’s some defeats you can take …this wasn’t one of them!

The boys played as well as we have seen them all season and dragged themselves back from a bad penalty decision after Pogba had scored to get level with Felipe Anderson’s tenth goal of the season.

In between times it really is fair to say we were the better team for long periods and Antonio’s appearance halfway through the second half lit us up further when but for the woodwork and De Gea’s fingertips we would have been in front.

We genuinely played some real good stuff and it was great to see them regularly finding their men with balls to feet as United struggled to cope with our waves of forward movement.

Arthur Masuaku – in for Cresswell – had a very good game defensively and offensively whilst Declan was again at the top of his form.

But it all came to nothing when Pogba scored from the spot after Fredericks brought down Martial who may have been offside in the build up but no serious complaint.

The game showed one thing very clearly, that the insults thrown at the squad having gone on holiday are a nonsense.

In real terms the result didn’t harm our league position with the club remaining on 11th,

Manuel Pellegrini should be pleased – they played like a big team.

  1. Let’s hope we can play like this against Leicester next week. The football God’s always help Man Utd and they were outplayed today , nobody can argue with that.If only we could play like this every week.A class striker in the Summer will help loads.Well done today and very unlucky.

  2. Masuaku’s whole game was the most disciplined performance he’s ever played, both in defence and attack. It is indicative of the performance of the whole team.

    • I think the injuries this season have hurt us so much and the chopping and changing doesn’t help.Quite a few of our players have to merit staying in the Summer and Arthur is one of them, but there are at least 4 who will surely go in the Summer if not more.
