West Ham are targeting moves for three current Celtic players, Claret & Hugh have learned this afternoon.

Speaking to a source with excellent club connections earlier today, it has become clear the Hammers are actively attempting to strengthen during the transfer window.

However, we were also told that West Ham have so far been unsuccessful in their pursuit of their top target.

It should be stressed that no identity was given for that player and, according to our source, no formal bid was ever submitted.

Hammers Turn Their Attention To Celtic

Instead, it appears that, on the recommendation of recruitment director Nils Koppen, West Ham have switched their attention to three players currently on the books at Celtic.

Nils Koppen is targeting three Celtic players as West Ham step up their summer recruitment plans

Koppen is using his time in Scottish football to look at Celtic’s squad for potential West Ham signings

For obvious reasons, the identities of those players remain closely guarded, but we understand creativity is viewed as one of the key priorities during this transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Claret & Hugh, the source said:

“West Ham are chasing three targets at Celtic but no bids yet.”

Japanese Star Among Targets

It was also made clear that whilst the Hammers have, for the time being, missed out on their primary target this summer, there have still been no concrete offers made for any player.

That suggests the club are continuing to do the groundwork before deciding which deals to pursue.

We also understand that one of the three Celtic players currently under consideration is Japanese.

Whether West Ham eventually move for one, two or even all three remains to be seen.

But after a slow start to the summer, it would appear Nils Koppen’s recruitment plans are hopefully beginning to take shape.

Oyarzabal just scored a penalty for Spain and I thought he took it just like Mark Noble would. Then I looked again and he looks a bit like Mark Noble. Can we sign him please, we need Mr West Ham back 😊⚒️⚒️

It is refreshing we are beginning to look like a professional club and a massive part of that is saying goodbye to the incompetent duo of S&B

Celtic players , no disrespect but the Scottish league is poor . Unless he’s an incredible player . Generally Scottish players are nowhere near PL level and possibly the championship . I’m sure there will be a few worth considering but they have to improve the team .

“no formal bid was ever submitted” — this doesn’t sound like much of a ‘blow’ to me 🙂
