“Eye catching performance” | One Hammer stands tall in Leicester display

West Ham’s business-like defeat of Leicester City was not a spectacle that deserved superlatives. It didn’t need to be. Taking care of business, workman like if uninspiring – the time to be critical is certainly not this season after the depths to which the team had sunk under Lopetegui.

Indeed, watching opponents Leicester struggle without ambition was more reminiscent of West Ham taking another of their pre-Christmas hidings. It is enough as a West Ham supporter to celebrate those days hopefully being long-gone.

However it is clear that the message is just getting ‘out there’ to independent commentators and media sources alike, that West Ham have one very capable player in Aaron Wan-Bissaka. West Ham fans have watched him develop and grow in stature and last night it was the turn of ‘Thetimes.com‘ no less, to be the latest convert to his skill and energy:“Wan-Bissaka was particularly eye-catching, living up to his newfound reputation as a probing, attacking wingback.”

Wan-Bissaka's influence is clearly getting noticed

Wan-Bissaka’s influence is clearly getting noticed

In the creation of West Ham’s first goal, the times noted ‘The Spider’s influence: “Wan-Bissaka again flexed his powers going forward, igniting the move with a delicate, dinked pass that found its way to Bowen on the right.”  Which was the link up play that culminated in Soucek knocking home Mohammed Kudus’ saved shot”.

Wan Bissaka’s growing reputation may yet force him into England boss’ Tuchel’s consideration. the Hammers wing-back is still eligible for both England and DR Congo, and has not yet settled on either. Time for Tuchel to reward Wan Bissau’s incredible rise at London stadium.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Curse you Shaun Wright-Phillips.
I still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows another six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser.
Can tell I'm getting old knowing I watched both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old.
Magic.

I’ve seen astonishingly good stats for Aaaron Creswell last night…

He wasn’t so awful v Arsenal either.

He’s been a revelation. There’s not much to credit Loppy for, but I’m going to put my head above the parapet and suggest that Loppy was the manager who recognised his potential in playing him further up in an attacking position. Granted, it doesn’t work so well in a 4-man back line, as it leaves a gaping hole in his wake, but GP deploying him as a wing back is perfect for him, especially when Todibo (who is looking the part) is behind him.

IMHO Hammer of the year thus far

Agreed. And it’s not just about the ‘value’ that his fee represents either. Even if we’d paid double that for him, I’d still think he was a shoe-in for HOTY.

That’s the most enjoyable, boring game I’ve watched in a long time. Not swashbuckling by any means but we got the three points in a 2-0 win at home we’d be at risk of losing under Lopetegui. Happy as Larry to be on the other side of the ledger in a circa. 40/60% possession stat.

Onwards and upwards and thank the good lord we have Potter at the helm.
