AFTER the summer we’ve had so far, few West Ham fans will be shocked by anything that turns out to be true at our turbulent club right now. If someone had said there’d be a full-on hostile takeover bid this summer and that neither Brady nor Sullivan would be in the boardroom come August few would have believed it so, it seems, ‘anything is possible‘.
And that’s the label most fans will want to attach to the claim from former football agent John Harriott, reported by the 4thofficial.net, ‘promising’ that:
“Troy Parrott to West Ham United is imminent. £30m fee agreed with AZ Alkmaar. West Ham have a new striker. “
Wishful thinking, hype, fact or fiction?

From AZ Alkmaar to Championship football?
It does all sound a little far-fetched, until you factor in his Manager’s comments this week:
“AZ manager Lee-Roy Echteld admitted that the Ireland star was keen to move on this summer.
We all know that he wants to make a transfer.
I don’t think we will keep him in the end. But if he stays, we are going to use him.”
Nobody who has lived through the last couple of months as a Hammers supporter would rule out anything, from Oil being discovered at London Stadium to Aliens taking over the boardroom. But Troy Parrot as West Ham’s new striker for £30 million? That’d be a new Championship record by a mile but it’d certainly be a statement of intent by the West Ham board – whoever that might be this week.
On a personal note it would be fabulous, simply to be able to read something other than increasingly negative fan comments claiming ‘Nothing has changed, West Ham will sign nobody this window’…In true Kevin Keegan speak “I would love it” if we signed Troy Parrot for that reason alone.
I guess we’ll know for sure soon enough.
I don’t understand how they seem happy to pay £30m for Parrot but are haggling with Celtic and won’t pay for Arne?
£30m? That’s quite possibly the most ludicrous amount of money I’ve ever seen for a player. £30m? For Troy Parrott? Can ANYONE explain this transfer to me because I can’t see ANY sense in it.
30 mill? The guy’s had one good season in Dutch football. Before that he was scoring roughly one goal in five games. Much like Pablo who suddenly hit a scoring streak at Gil Vicente. Look how prolific he is now.
Sorry Martin for the negative comment but is Troy Parrott for £30m really the extent of Nils Koppen and West Ham’s scouting network…
Won’t be fit for the prem (and yes I do think we’ll go up) and then we’ll have to take a massive loss on him.
When will we learn. I think this is a ‘thank god we’ve signed anyone’ reaction which is similar to the Hugill signing.
I agree. We need a sticker but it’s not him. Rather than Hudgill feels more like a Sam Baldock, bought for the Championship then will be moved on if we go up. Difference is Baldock was cheap and £30m is way to much for a Champioship level player
Stop it Martin!
If I wake up tomorrow and this isn’t confirmed it’ll curdle my coffee!
Would be nice to have him, i hate to disrespect players especially as they are better than me but i dont think
Pablo is good enough.
On a different note was i seeing things when Pablo Fornals scored last night against Arsenal?
I was sure he did the Hammers crossed arms????
Oooh I’ll have to go check that Fornals bit out.. Once a Hammer, always a Hammer..
He did indeed give us a cheeky little crossed Hammers celebration 😀
