Former West Ham Academy graduate Conor Coventry is set to play Championship football next season after Charlton Athletic secured a 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient in the playoff final.
The 25 year old midfielder has played over 61 games for Charlton since signing for an “undisclosed” fee in 2024.
Coventry began his journey at West Ham’s youth academy at the age of 10, earning the Academy Player of the Year in 2018, the same year he signed his first professional contract with the East End London side.
He made his senior debut in September 2018 coming off the bench in West Ham’s 8-0 victory against Macclesfield Town. Despite this early breakthrough, Coventry featured just 10 times for the Hammers over six seasons, spending time on loan at Lincoln City, Peterborough MK Dons and Rotherham.
Coventry holds the record for most caps at Under-21 level for Republic of Ireland and was called up to the senior squad for a friendly against England in November 2024.
Renowned for his work ethic and consistency, Coventry has become a fan favourite at Charlton. C&H extends best wishes to him as he embarks on the next chapter of career in the Championship.
