Fresh reports circulating today about El Hadji Malick Diouf sparked confusion among West Ham supporters, after claims suggested Brentford had made a major breakthrough in negotiations for a £40m deal. However, respected journalist Dom Smith has moved quickly to shut the story down, insisting the situation is unchanged and the latest rumours are simply inaccurate.
According to Smith, Brentford ended talks weeks ago after initially contacting West Ham to enquire about Diouf’s price. The Bees subsequently “went cold,” and there has been no fresh contact between the clubs since. Brentford are said to be content with their current left‑back options Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Keane Lewis‑Potter and are instead expected to loan out young prospect Jayden Meghoma rather than pursue Diouf.

Although Diouf started his career and with us very good last season he was poor.
Having said to all that Scales is still not good enough and cant be trusted not to make the odd howler which cost us goals and points so selling Diouf without one or two recignised left backs sounds crazy
With the transfer window closing next week there isn’t time to add another requirement replacement. A couple of weeks ago I’d have been happy to sell a defender that struggles with the concept of defending especially for a good profit but time waits for nobody.
This new era isn’t all it was cracked up to be.
Diouf was talking about playing for a Champions League club as soon as he arrived. I’d be very surprised if he stays.
I don’t like Diouf. He is probably a lot better than Scarles but still an overrated player who was a liability last season. He seems to have an inflated ego believing he is good enough for the likes of Chelsea. I remember in 2003 there were players who didn’t want to be here and in January they were sold. I hope I am wrong but if Diouf doesn’t leave now he could leave in January.
