Fulham Football Club Profile

Overview:
Fulham Football Club, often referred to as Fulham, is a professional football club based in Fulham, West London, England. Founded in 1879, it is one of the oldest football clubs established in London. Fulham currently competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football.

Stadium:
The club’s home ground is Craven Cottage, located on the banks of the River Thames. The stadium is known for its iconic and historic architecture, particularly the Johnny Haynes Stand, which is a Grade II listed building. Craven Cottage had a capacity of approximately 19,000 spectators and was celebrated for its intimate and atmospheric setting.

Following an announcement from Fulham FC Chairman Shahid Khan in May 2019, the Club has signed an agreement for the demolition and development of the Riverside Stand, commencing in the summer of 2019. This new stand facing the Thames has raised capacity to 24,500

History:
Fulham has experienced a varied history, oscillating between the lower and upper echelons of English football. Despite never having won the top league title, Fulham has been a solid competitor in the English football scene. The club’s most notable achievements include reaching the FA Cup final in 1975 and playing in the Europa League final in 2010, where they were runners-up in a memorable campaign under manager Roy Hodgson.

Club Culture and Identity:

Known as “The Cottagers” after their iconic stadium, Fulham prides itself on its community-oriented approach and family-friendly atmosphere. The club’s identity is deeply rooted in its local community and loyal fan base. Fulham’s colours are traditionally white and black, and the team is known for playing attractive football.

Recent Performance:
Fulham has been somewhat of a “yo-yo” club in recent years, with promotions and relegations between the Premier League and the Championship. The club aims to establish a more stable presence in the Premier League, focusing on strategic player acquisitions and developing talent through its academy.

Notable Players:
Over the years, Fulham has been home to many notable players, including Johnny Haynes, regarded as one of the greatest English footballers of his generation, George Cohen, a World Cup winner with England in 1966. Of course our own Bobby Moore represented Fulham at the end of his Hammers career.
