Fun day out at the London Stadium for a quid
I bought a ticket for the West Ham Women v Spurs Women WSL game in block 110 from the official club ticketing website for £1, little did I know at the time of purchase that I would get a padded seat right next the home dugouts in the second row and a wrist band and access to the Boleyn Bar for the same price of that one pound.
Thousands of supporters braved the rain and the wind with hundreds of kids were enjoying the inflatables and games in the fan zone on the community track before the game and there was a real family feel about the day within the stadium throughout the day.
West Ham gave away thousands of tickets to local schools who were there in force and many families took the oppotunity of £1 and £2 tickets for adults with kids getting in for free. The official attendance was 24,790 which was the number of tickets allocated but I think the real attendance was around 20,000 which was still very impressive.
The quality of football wasn’t quite up to the level of their male counterparts in the Premier League but the male game has had a century head start on the women.
The game was broadcast live on BT Sports and the BBC were also there filming the second series of Britains youngest football boss starring Jack Sullivan and his team.
The Hammers had lots of chances but failed to take them losing two-nil to their London rivals at full time.
The result didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of the kids there who queued up after the game to get autographs from their heroes and have selfies taken with them.
