Well, well, well… that was some statement win. A 6–0 demolition job against a Wrexham side that came in with all the hype and none of the answers.
The Hammers will be featuring more in the Guinness Book of Records – earlier this season an all time record Carabao Cup first‑round crowd attendance against Portsmouth, followed by the highest Championship attendance ever recorded against Charlton Athletic pulling in 62,264 fans. And on Friday night Wrexham walked straight into their worst defeat in 22 years, under the largest crowd they’ve ever faced.
From Nuno Espirto Santo to the coaching staff to every player in claret and blue, West Ham made it crystal clear, we’re not here to make up the numbers this season, we mean business.
West Ham didn’t just beat Wrexham, they dismantled them. Six goals, zero mercy, and ninety minutes of football that looked like a squad sending a message to the rest of the league, underestimate us at your own peril.
6 – 0 scoreline – and it could easily have been more
From the first whistle, the tempo was electric. West Ham pressed high, moved the ball sharply, and looked like a side playing with swagger, confidence, and a point to prove. Wrexham, who arrived with plenty of noise and media buzz, simply couldn’t live with it.
Every department delivered. Credit where credit’s due, Nuno’s game plan was spot on, the coaching staff clearly had the team drilled to perfection, and the players executed with ruthless efficiency. It wasn’t just a win, it was a flex. A reminder that this squad has depth, hunger, and ambition.
The stats were incredible, 2.51xg, 19 shots, nine on target, zero saves required by Mads Hermansen.
By the time the sixth goal hit the net, the only question left was how far this team can go if they keep playing with this level of intensity and belief.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said after the game his team came up against an exceptional frontline, while Nuno was extremely pleased with the win, saying we’re starting to see what we do in training.
Early days, sure, but performances like this don’t happen by accident. They happen when a club is building something serious.
