gold-david-gold-west-ham-co-owner-july-2014_3179990David Gold has made it clear in an interview with ClaretandHugh this evening that he’s ready to press harder and harder for safe standing when the Premier League chairman meet on Thursday.

Speaking excusively to this website he declared: “The world has moved on and there can be no complaints on health and safety grounds because this equipment has been tested and reaches all the required standards.

“We need to start the experiment – the fans are crying out for it and although there’s no cost benefit to the clubs that’s not really the point.

“When the Taylor Report came out after Hillsborough everybody understood the reasons for all seater stadiums but we are a quarter of a century on and there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t do this.

“I am ready to state the case very clearly on Thursday – everybody knows my position. I am a big advocate of safe standing and we need to get on with the experiment.”
