Luis Guilherme’s transfer to West Ham was delayed due to extended negotiations over a sell-on clause.
Guilherme’s former club, Palmeiras, insisted on including a 20% sell-on clause in any transfer deal, which the Hammers were understandably hesitant to accept. However, given the Brazilian wonderkid’s reputation and high expectations, many believe he is destined to play for one of the world’s top clubs. As a result, Palmeiras were not willing to compromise and insisted on a deal that contained the 20% sell-on clause.
West Ham’s negotiating team managed to reduce the basic transfer fee and dissuade the player and his representatives from including a buyout clause in Guilherme’s contract.
The Hammers have two such clauses in the contracts of both Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus. Claret & Hugh have been informed by the club that the buyout terms were the only way to conclude the deals for last season’s major signings. However, there is little doubt that such clauses contribute to unwanted transfer speculation and gossip.
Has no one watched life of Brian you have to haggle?
No buyout clause chalk that one up? Anyway if he turns out to be brilliant he’ll be gone , west ham a laundry basket for the premier league?
